
Mr. Peacock took sick on Nov. 13th, [1948] and was taken to Toronto General Hospital by ambulance on Dec. 12th and (as noted in last week's Gazette) passed away Dec. 13th at 6 o'clock.
He was born at Falkenburg, Macaulay Twp., March 3rd, 1886. He married Miss Jessie Forsyth and lived at Falkenburg for a number of years, moving to the present homestead in Macaulay in 1909 where he has lived practically all his life except for a number of years when he was a sawyer at different mills. At the time of his death he was blacksmithing at the Canada Wood Specialty Co., Bracebridge.He was well liked by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, five daughters, Gertrude (Mrs. Wm Kennedy), Bracebridge; Hazel (Mrs. Grant Thompson), Toronto; Marjorie (Mrs. Harold Hammond), Bracebridge; Eileen (Mrs. Max Berg), Toronto; and Miss Helen of Bracebridge and five sons, Murray, Glenwood and Terry of Bracebridge; Elmore of Massena, New York and Kenneth of St. Catharines. He was predeceased by three sons, Melvin, Clarence and Beatty. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.He was a councillor of Macaulay Township and served on the School Board for a number of years. In politics he was a Progressive Conservative.
The funeral took place last Thursday afternoon. Service was held at his home in Macaulay and internment took place in the Kirk Cemetery. The Rev. S.M. Craymer, Minister of St. Thomas Church, Bracebridge officiated. The pall bearers were his five sons and one son-in-law, Wm. Kennedy. Flower bearers were his grandsons, Orval Hammond, Elmer Kennedy and Douglas Thompson.
Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. John Peacock and son Claude of Vineland, Mr. And Mrs. Ken Peacock and Gary, Mr. And Mrs. Bill Williard, and Mr. And Mrs. Fletcher Smith of St. Catharines, Mr. Elmore Peacock of Massena, New York, Mr. And Mrs. Dan McIntyre, Mr. And Mrs. Joe Peacock and Mr. Saxon Moore of Orillia, Mr. Ralph Moore, Mr. And Mrs. Grant Thompson and family and Mrs. Berg and David of Toronto, Mr. Robert Forsyth and Mr. And Mrs. Donnie Kerr of Port Sydney, Mrs. James Forsyth, Bruce and Mrs. Hampson of Utterson.
