Elmore Peacock, 72, Canada Native, Dies

Elmore L. Peacock; 72, of Lincoln Place, a native of Canada, died at 8:11 p.m. Thursday at his home . The funeral is tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Church, with Rev. Roland Gonyea, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are this afternoon and evening at Phillips Memorial Home. Contributions may be made to the Massena Rescue Squad.
Surviving are his wife, Florence; two stepchildren, Joseph Lamendola of Canton and Prinzy Rose Blickstead, of Ottawa, Ontario; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn and Terry Peacock, and two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Hammond and Mrs. Helen White, all of Bracebridge, Ontario; nieces and nephews.
Born in Bracebridge, Ontario on July 14, 1915, son of George and Jessie Forsyth Peacock, he was educated at local schools in Bracebridge. He married Florence Cordovano Lamendola on January 20, 1945, at Trinity Church, Cornwall, Ontario.
Mr. Peacock served four years in the Canadian Army during World War II. He owned and operated a grocery store on Center Street in Massena from 1946 to 1955. After selling the store, he worked at Alcoa until 1960, and then was employed in the construction industry until his retirement. One of his last jobs involved work on Route 81.
