John Peacock was the second child and second son of John Peacock and Mary Ellen Oliver. He was known as 'Jack' and was born May 23rd, 1877.

The Peacocks had lived on the 8th/9th concession of Macaulay Township east of Falkenburg since the early 1870's, and in 1901, John was 23 years old, and living with his parents. His occupation in the census is shown as farmer.

In the 1891, Thomas and Catherine Mann appear in the census for Rama Township (now called Ramara Township in Simcoe County). Thomas was born in Ontario, as were his parents. Catherine was born in Ontario, but her parents were born in Ireland. Thomas was a farmer, and the children were Mary 10, Susan, Catherine, Thomas and Claude. By 1901, the Manns had relocated to the 8th / 9th concession of Macaulay and were neighbours of the Peacocks. (Mann children appear in the Macaulay School photo with the younger children of John Peacock and his younger brother, Robert Peacock).

Mr. and Mrs. John Peacock of Falkenburg were called upon to give up their little son on Saturday of last week. Cecil Raymond passed to the great beyond after only five days illness. He was taken sick on Monday and died on Saturday. The little fellow was playing with his brothers and sisters apparently well when his father left to return to his work for the following week. But he was called home on Thursday and on arrival of the doctor it was found that he was beyond medical aid, as tubercular meningitis had developed. This was a great shock to the parents as it was the first death in their family. He was 5 years and 10 months old, being born in Bracebridge on June 30th, 1908.

The funeral took place at Falkenburg n Monday, May 4th, service being hled in St. Georges's Church by the Rev. Mr. Graham. From there, the remains were taken t the Unin Cemetery.

Sleep on , dear Cecil,

And take they rest,

God called thee home,

He thought it best.
