The following was copied from a local Bracebridge newspaper:

Falkenburg Couple's Golden Wedding - 1956
Mr. and Mrs. William Peacock, of Falkenburg, were very pleasantly surprised on the night of May 2nd, when nearly one hundred of their relatives and neighbours called upon them and staged a grand "surprise" party in celebration of the couple's fifty years of marriage.

It was on May 2nd, 1906, at the Falkenburg home of her father, Mr. Tom Campbell, that the Bracebridge Presbyterian minister, Rev. W. Brenner, united Mary Campbell and William Peacock in marriage. Margaret Campbell, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Mr. William Forth was best man. Mr. and Mrs. Peacock are well known and respected in the Falkenburg district, where they have lived these last fifty years. They have one daughter, Lila, and one son, Mel.
For last Wednesday's party the guests arrived complete with a beautifully decorated cake, as well as sandwiches, cakes and cookies of all kinds. During the evening, Miss Alma Peacock sang "When I Grow Too Old to Dream" and "Bless This House", and Mrs. Pearson and Marie entertained with musical numbers besides leading a lively sing-song.

Following the entertainment period, on behalf of those present, Mrs. George Peacock, presented the bride and groom with a lovely standard lamp and hostess chair, together with numerous congratulatory cards and "golden" gifts.

Mr. Willie (as he is affectionately known to most) Peacock made a short speech of thanks and appreciation on behalf of Mrs. Peacock and himself, to all those who had in one form or another taken part in making the evening's proceeding so wonderful and memorable to them.

A really grand lunch was then served and before the party eventually ended with the singing of "The Queen" all sang "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Willie Peacock, whose birthday was on May 3rd.

Among the out-of-town visitors were Mr. And Mrs. Andy Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peacock, Mrs. Mary Bush and Mrs. Dolly Varty, all of Orillia, and Mr. Frank Skelly, of Toronto.
