Jessie Forsyth Peacock

One of the best known and most highly regarded residents of Macaulay Township, Mrs. George Peacock, passed away on Tuesday, November 9th, at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, following an illness of several months. She was 80 years of age November 6th.Mrs. Peacock was the former Jessie Forsyth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Forsyth (Mary Dale), early settlers in Muskoka. She spent her early days at Falkenburg and was married to Mr. George N. Peacock on August 21st, 1905, taking up residence in Macaulay where she has since made her home. Interment was made in the Kirk Cemetery, Macaulay beside the remains of her husband.


Mrs. Peacock was an exceptionally fine citizen. Besides her deep devotion to her family, she took an active interest in the welfare of her neighbors and the well-being of all in the community. She was an active member of the Women's Institute for many years and of the Holy Cross Guild and also took an interest in political affairs, being a member of the Conservative party. She will be greatly missed by her family and other relatives and by many friends throughout the District.
